APES in a box: Endangered Species
1: Define Threatened Species:
Threatened species are species with a high risk of extinction in the future
2: Define Endangered Species:
Endangered species are species with a very serious risk of going extinct
3: What are some of the human impacts to biodiversity?
Impacts on biodiversity are deforestation, overharvesting, invasive species, pollution, and climate change
4: What are the characteristics of k selected species?
Characteristics are, long life spans, large offspring, slow population growth, stable population size, few offspring, and good parental care
5: What are the characteristics of r selected species?
Characteristics are short life span, many reproductive events with many offspring, little to no parental care, high variable population size and potential for rapid population growth.
6: What are some causes for species to become threatened or endangered more than others?
Causes are reproductive problems and small population size
7: What can we do to protect endangered species?
We can do are habitat preservation, breeding programs, education and legislation
8: What are some laws that protect endangered species? How do we know if the law is a United States Law or International Treaty?
The law that protect endangered species is a law called Act. We know it's international treaty if it's a treaty and we know it's a U.S. law when it has the word act in it.
